DEX/UCS – How a Vending Machine Shares Its Sales Data

1 min read

DEX is a way to pull data from a machine in a standard format. It underpins sales auditing.

DEX/UCS is a data exchange standard for pulling sales, cash, price, and event information from a machine's controller. It used to be done with a handheld terminal plugged into a port; today a telemetry module often sends the data. Operators use it to reconcile sales and plan restocking.

What data can be read

What it is used for

The data lets operators match sales against cash in the box, spot discrepancies, and plan product deliveries.

DEX and telemetry

A telemetry module can read DEX data automatically and send it to the operator's system. See the page with vending machines (publisher's site) for devices with this feature.

FAQ
