A planogram is the machine's map: which product sits in which selection, how many, and at what price.
A planogram is the layout plan for a machine: it maps each product to a specific selection, sets the spiral or slot capacity, and the price. From it, the person restocking knows what goes where, and the controller knows what price to charge.
What a planogram contains
- Selection number.
- The product assigned to it.
- Capacity – number of items.
- Price.
Planogram and controller
Prices and mappings in the planogram must match the controller settings. On connected machines they are updated remotely; elsewhere, on site.
Spirals and product size
In spiral machines, the spiral pitch must match the product's thickness. The planogram takes that into account. The page on snack vending machines (publisher's site) has examples.
