Vending Machine Service Mode – What It Is For and Who Uses It

1 min read

Behind the machine door is a service menu. It is the operator's and technician's working tool.

Service mode is a controller menu reached by opening the machine or logging in, where the operator sets prices, maps selections, tests motors and sensors, and reads counters and errors. Only authorized staff can access it, because changes affect sales and how the machine runs.

Typical functions

Security

The service menu is protected by the door key, a code, or a card. Changes are often logged in the event history.

When help is needed

If the site notices a problem, it reports it to the operator rather than changing settings. Contact channels are on the support (publisher's site) page.

FAQ

Is service mode the same on every machine? No, it depends on the maker and controller.

Do service mode changes show in telemetry? In many systems, yes, as events.
